BBC Bootcamp

Do you sit in our meetings wishing you understood half of the tech talk that happens? Or maybe you  have an idea for a business but need some technical know-how in order to actualize your idea?

Well we have a golden opportunity for you to come learn all about web apps, key terms and buzz words, and general information for web startups and development. There is no prior experience necessary for this bootcamp.

Fall Idea Pitch winner Steve Gacka is one of the impressive students that will be leading the bootcamp, along with Elliot Chong and Peter Gerstmann of Resource Interactive. Resource Interactive works with clients as high profile as Coca-Cola, and they are coming to campus to work with us. You do not want to miss this BBC Members-Only event.

Mike Figliuolo

At 7:30pm we will be hearing from Mike Figliuolo, founder of thoughtLEADERS. Mike graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1993 where he was an honor graduate and a Distinguished Cadet. He was recently named the Columbus, Ohio Small Business Leader of the Year for 2010 by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Business First. Mike is also a member of the Ohio TechAngel Fund, a principal at weBuild (a web/mobile accelerator), the CEO of TiXiT (an event ticket discount site), the founder of SimpleMile (a droid-based business service app), a founder of FreakJet.com (a humor site), and the author of the upcoming leadership book One Piece of Paper: The Simple Approach to Powerful, Personal Leadership.

This week in the Ohio Union Senate Chamber, Mallory Brown strapped on a backpack in January 2008 and set out to discover new people and places. On a day excursion from Northern Thailand, Mallory visited Laos, one of the poorest countries in the world. She met a family in need as they were gathered under a tree selling potatoes and roots.It wasn’t money or food that they needed. It was clothes. World Clothes Line gives clothes to people who need them. Their “shoot for the stars” goal is to create an active clothing collection for every country of the world.
